Rhythm
Each note or rest is a different length.
Here are the different goals relating to rhythm:
Bronze - You can read, recognize and clap 3 notes
Silver - You can read, recognize and clap 5 notes
Gold - You can read, recognize and clap more than 5 notes
Here are the basic notes you have been learning with me at school (there are more though!).
Here is a video to get you started. It covers these three notes:
At school we normally just call the crotchet (quarter note) Ta, the minim (half note) we call Ta-a and the semibreve (whole note) we call Ta-a-a-a.
The crotchet is 1 beat, the minim 2 beats and the semibreve 4 beats.
The next video adds in two quavers (eighth notes) joined together. We call these ti-ti. Try clap along with the video! If you can do it, congratulations, you are already have learnt 3 rhythms!
Here's a simple rhythm you can try and clap:
The next video adds in the crotchet rest (quarter note rest). In this video they have used 'Shh'. At school we use 'Sa'. Remember this one is silent.
